New Delhi: BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri insulted Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Kunwar Danish Ali during a discussion on the "success of Chandrayaan-3" during Thursday's Special Parliament Session. During a lower house discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 project, Bidhuri made some statements disparaging Danish Ali, which prompted opposition members to urge that he be sternly disciplined.
Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla took "serious note" of Bidhuri's offensive comments in the House on Friday and threatened to take "strict action" if the behavior continued, according to officials, as PTI reported. Soon after Bidhuri made the offensive comments, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh apologized in front of the House, saying, "I express regret if the opposition is hurt by the remarks made by the member."
Additionally, Singh claimed not to have heard the comments and pleaded with the chair to remove them from the record if they had offended any opposition members. In the chair, Congressman K Suresh announced that he had previously instructed the staff to remove the comments.
However, the opposition has called for severe measures against Ramesh Bidhuri.
Mahua Moitra, a member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), pleaded with Speaker Om Birla to take action against Bidhuri. Maryadapurush @ombirlakota—feel free to file a privilege motion against me for calling you out—wrote in a post on X. Willingly take on any committee role. However, I would like to know right now what steps you are taking to deal with @rameshbidhuri.
In the Lok Sabha, Congressman Pawan Khera also chastised Bidhuri for his comments about the BSP MP. "I have seen Ramesh Bidhuri as MLA in the Delhi Assembly," the writer added. Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, requested that Bidhuri be removed from the Lower House of Parliament. "What Ramesh Bidhuri said concerning Danish Ali is absolutely abhorrent," he declared. It is less the more criticism it receives. Although Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, has apologized, it is not enough. Such language has never been heard of me. Neither within nor outside of the Parliament should this language be used. This is offensive to all of us, not just Danish Ali.Through his speech, Bidhuri has ushered in the new Parliament. This demonstrates the BJP's goals. What Bidhuri is expressing is the goal of the BJP.I believe that he should be suspended in this instance and that the worst penalty possible should be applied.
