The Congress-led Opposition's INDIA coalition is planning a massive demonstration in Mumbai's Shivaji Park this Sunday. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is among the INDIA bloc leaders who will attend
the final gathering of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
The meeting comes a day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi finished his 63-day-long Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Mumbai by paying respects to Dr. BR Ambedkar at his memorial Chaityabhoomi in downtown Mumbai and reading the Preamble of the Constitution. The yatra, which began in strife-torn Manipur on January 14, entered Mumbai from Thane on Saturday.
Aside from MK Stalin, key opposition figures such as Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, RJD leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav will attend the big event.
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, CPI national secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren, and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren's wife Kalpana Soren will also attend, according to news agency PTI.
The conference will also mark the beginning of the INDIA bloc's campaign for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, which were scheduled by the Election Commission on Sunday. The Congress-led INDIA bloc's rally in Maharashtra comes as numerous state party stalwarts, including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, have moved to the BJP. Chavan joined the BJP in Mumbai on February 13.
Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, will go on a 'Nyay Sankalp Padyatra' from Mani Bhavan to August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai on Sunday, according to PTI, quoting a party leader.
Gandhi will also speak at Tejpal Hall, near the August Kranti Maidan.
