The timetable for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand has been formally released by the Election Commission of India (ECI). On November 20, Maharashtra will hold its one-phase election, and on November 23, the votes will be counted.
Elections in Jharkhand will take place in two stages on November 13 and November 20. The 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will expire in November 2024, and the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will end its mandate on January 5, 2025.

The Mahayuti alliance, formed by Eknath Shinde and comprising the BJP and Ajit Pawar's NCP party, is optimistic about holding onto power in Maharashtra. The Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and Sharad Pawar's NCP make up the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which is committed to regaining power in the state.
Jharkhand: Opposition vs. Coalition Winning
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and its allies, who form the ruling alliance of Jharkhand, are running for a second term in government. The opposition, led by the BJP, is intent on regaining control of the state with a tribal majority. The JMM-led alliance will run for all 81 Assembly seats, according to Chief Minister Hemant Soren's confirmation.
