The city of Agra, long known for its timeless monument Taj Mahal, is now set to witness a major transformation as Yogi Adityanath unveiled a massive development push worth ₹6,466 crore. The announcement marks a significant step in redefining Agra’s identity—from a tourism-centric city to a modern urban and economic hub.
At the heart of this initiative is the ambitious “Greater Agra” township, a large-scale urban development project aimed at expanding the city’s infrastructure and residential capacity. Spread across approximately 450 hectares, the township is designed to accommodate over 10,000 families with modern housing, wide roads, green spaces, and essential civic amenities. Developed by the Agra Development Authority, the project is expected to follow a planned, sector-based layout, reflecting the urban models seen in cities like Noida.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the vision behind Greater Agra is not just about building homes, but about creating a self-sustained ecosystem that supports economic growth. By providing world-class infrastructure and connectivity, the government aims to attract private investment, industries, and businesses to the region.
